FREE German Conversation/Culture Club

Thank you, Ann, for this great opportunity!  Class by Ann Rath.
WOULD YOU LIKE TO KNOW MORE ABOUT GERMANY AND THE GERMAN LANGUAGE?
If you are, you might be interested in joining the (off base) group I would like to start:
****”German language and culture”*****

My name is Ann, I am German, 37 years old and a German and English teacher – so communication should work out well in any case!

Meetings will probably take place once a month for about 2 hours, starting in late summer. The locations might differ (e.g. a cafe/bistro/ice cream shop, usually in the Heinsberg / Erkelenz / Hueckelhoven area) and I could show you some nice places in the area if you are interested. You would have the chance to learn some helpful phrases or brush up your German.

Maybe you also have some questions concerning “those crazy Germans” or everyday life in Germany? This is the chance for you to find out (also in English!!! ;-))! :-) The meetings are free of charge, the number of participants will be limited.

IF YOU ARE INTERESTED don’t hesitate to email me (funconversation@women-at-work.org).

As I need to plan a bit more, I would love to know your name, age, nationality, what you would expect of a group like this in order to meet your needs (Beginner? Advanced learner? If there is some previous knowledge: For how long have you learned German in the past? Which topics would be interesting to you? etc.) and which time of the day (mornings / evenings) you would be able to attend. If there are any other questions, don’t hesitate to ask, please. More information about times / dates will follow after I will have received some feedback.

Warm regards, Ann

I’m not sure if it does, but I’ll look into it and let you know. Have you emailed Ann Rath (funconversation@women-at-work.org)? If you’re looking for German speaking classes, my friend, Meral Oncu is an excellent teacher offering classes at GK.

Thanks for the positive feedback! :-)

@Celia: Your friends are very welcome, it is more fun if we have other German speakers in our group. Could you tell them to email me, please?

    General Update:
Due to the number of ladies who have already expressed their interest to join the group, other interested ladies who will contact me are going to be informed at once when a free spot is available.

To the ladies who have already contacted me:
Thank you very much for your great interest! Please email me if you have a specific question about which we should talk in the group later on or if there is anything in which your are particularly interested in. Thanks. I will keep you posted. :-)

This is a good initiative! Conversation is one of the keys to learn a foreign language.

I don’t live in GK now, but just visited German friends recently. Would it be possible for them to join with the other ladies and practice
English and German together? They are a 45 year old mother and a 17yr old daughter who would also like to brush up on language. The mom works on base and the daughter is in school.
