More Resources Online: Blogs and Facebook

Back in the dark ages, there was nothing out there about GK.  Now, there are more blogs, facebook pages, and tweets that I can keep track of!

What a wonderful thing!

Newcomer Amanda Robbins has written two new blogs about her experiences.

The first, PcsGeilenkirchen.wordpress.com, documents her move to GK.  It’s detailed, it’s recent, and it will help a lot of others who are moving this summer with some of the questions that they might have.

The second,  Hereatgk.com, is an ongoing documentation of all of her discoveries.  There’s already some good information here and it will only grow.  She also has a facebook page for her site at https://www.facebook.com/HereAtGk.

There’s a new facebook group created by a spouse that revolves around travel, but the wives who follow it are so sweet, they’re answering all the questions that are posted.  This is a great page to follow!  https://www.facebook.com/groups/nicolegutierrez3/

Do you know of another great Facebook/Blog/Web resource that we should know about?  Leave a comment here!

Is their anything to do for a male spouse’s? All I keep seeing are clubs for women… I am starting to feel neglected! J/K

If you have children, I know of several male spouses who found it very rewarding to volunteer at the schools. I know that you left this comment sort of J/K, but there really isn’t a lot for male spouses because there just aren’t enough of you! ;) If there’s something that I’m missing or something you discover, please do pass it along. There’s certainly a ton to do in the area for a male spouse group – it could be fun!

Do you work out? At the risk of this sounding either chauvenist, or just being a really bad idea, maybe offer to be a workout partner with other spouses? I’ve heard lots of the women here say they would love to go to the gym but just don’t know what to do once they get there, and i myself do better with another person to motivate me, and heavens, I don’t know the 1st thing about weight lifting but would love to have some instruction!! Maybe you could just throw it out there on the Ops Spouses Facebook page or something.

Thanks Tiffany. Great job with all this information! Dog and cat info is comprehensive. I’ve learned I have a lot to coordinate for these animals!
