According to security forces on Ramstein Air Base, Polizei will be running double camera cars, a few miles apart from each other, on the A6, A62 and A63 starting today for the next 2-3 weeks (actual end date unknown). If a car is flashed for speeding at the first one then flashed for speeding on the second, the driver will lose their license for 6 months and receive a 2,000 euro fine. Obviously, we all need to observe the posted speed limits to ensure the safety of ourselves and others. If you have a tendency to drive faster than the posted limits, you may get an unwelcome surprise!

I appreciate your comment which seems a bit more sane than what was reported to me. The information I posted was sent to me from official channels as reported by security forces at Ramstein. Perhaps it was a temporary scare only. Who knows. Either way, a reminder to watch our speeds is always good.

This info is not accurate. The maximum traffic fine in Germany is 1,000 euro and you can not be fined twice for the same infraction (you would pay for the maximum of the two. You would not lose your license on the first infraction but rather after several. Don’t where this stuff comes from and why it gets so much traction.
