Just went to the Birkenstock factory last weekend. All the Birks were 35 euro or less! (with a few exceptions) They also accept Visa credit cards.

The store was set up by shoes size, so once you figured that out, you could just slide on every style, color and design that you liked and to the register you go! Needless to say, I left with six pair :)

Also, near the factory is a quaint and fabulous town called Bad Honnef. This is maybe a 5-minute drive from the factory. I compared it to a smaller Baden-Baden. Great centrum with nice restaurants (we ate at a hotel/restaurant called “Markt3″), there’s a spa somewhere (hence the “Bad” part in the name), and there are wine tours in the area.

We left Tuddern, DE around 9:30am, after driving, shopping, eating and cruising the town, we were home by 4pm. Ideal day trip and all of this with a one-year-old in tow.

Thank you. As a Pacific Northwesterner, I thank you. My feet thank you. This will increase my happy-footness a hundredfold.
