Amsterdam: Lodging

Contributed by JJ

We stayed at a great hotel in Amsterdam. The A-Train Hotel has a family room that is perfect for a small group traveling with children. It’s located right across from the main train/bus station and the starting point of two canal tour groups. The very spacious room with 5 single beds & 1 toddler bed including breakfast was only 180 euros (booked through booking.com). Downstairs had 2 single beds, a kitchenette (microwave, small refrigerator, sink area, coffee/tea supplies), bathroom with shower, and a toddler area. The toddler area was fantastic. It included a toddler bed with a little night light, a toddler sized table with 2 chairs, a play kitchen complete with food and dishes, and a box with a train track, trains and cars. There is an upstairs loft with 3 single beds. Each of the 5 beds had it’s own night stand and lamp. There was an elevator to the second floor, but you will need to climb a small set of stairs to the family room on the third floor. If you drive, the most convenient parking garage across the street is 55 euro/night. The hotel will give you a map and address for a cheaper parking garage (6 euro/day) just outside of town.
