Bocadillo Baguetterie — Geilenkirchen

Alte Poststrasse 10

Located just across from City Hotel and the train station parking lot is a small, but very nice little sandwich shop run by two of the friendliest people I’ve met in Geilenkirchen.

Here at Bocadillo, you can enjoy delicious home made soups, salads, and a great variety of sandwiches on a your choice of three different breads. The coffee is great and though the place is small, it is also very clean and well decorated. The owners speak English very well and are very nice.

Prices? Great! A really big baguette sandwich costs under 5 Euros and is easily big enough to split with a friend or take half home for another meal. Small versions are available as well.

If you do not like mayo/sauce on your sandwich, do ask for it without. Though it is not stated on the menu, even the hot sandwiches come with some sort of dressing on them.

Child friendly and dog friendly. (In fact, while I was there, a family came in with a small dog, and the owner of Bocadillo made the dog a special sandwich as well!)

Bocadillo’s is probably one of the best NATO friendly eateries in the entire Tri-Border region. It’s well priced, healthy quantities, delicious, and just darn friendly.

BEWARE of their super super super hot sandwich challenge! They make you sign a wavier to eat it. I highly recommend you prepare to have a week long battle with your stomach afterwards…

The Bocadillo is WONDERFUL. They even made a special plate of turkey, cheese, pickles, kidney beans and red bell pepper in the shape of a smiley face for my toddler. :) He loved it!

They have a high chair and some toys, books and colored pencils to keep the little ones entertained.

If you’re short on time, you can call ahead to have your sandwich or salad waiting for you when you arrive.

Their website is in German, but they do have an English menu listed.

If you don’t see something you like on the menu, just ask for what you want. They are very accommodating.

They also make great breakfasts and have coffee to go.

It’s very easy to get to, even in larger vehicles. Just put the Geilenkirchen Bahnhof in the GPS, and I usually park in the bus station parking lot. The Bocadillo is right across the street on the corner.
