I took a really intensive German class in Aachen. It was every Monday to Friday for 3 1/2 hours each morning.
There are several courses: mornings, midday and afternoons. If you can make it I recommend you take a midday or morning shift (less people). They prepare you for the official certificate in German (mid level), so many people take it (Aachen has a lot of university students from other countries).
I really enjoyed the course and it was really fast (you have to study). You can do 2 1/2 months and then later take a second one for 2 1/2 months more. Everything is in German since it’s a class full of people from other countries (not just the states).
Transportation: Aachen is 20+ minutes away, so you have to go by car or by train (the school is an 8 minute walk from the train station). If you decide to take the train, you can buy a special commuter ticket for the month. If you go by car, you can park in the bus station (bushof) parking (the schule is in the same building).

To apply/for more information: You will have to go there first and take a small test that will assess your German skills for proper class placement, then you have to go (for German info) only Tuesdays or Thursdays from 2pm to 5pm.
The price is 325 euros per session. The class size is small (15-25 people per class mornings or afternoons or up to 35 in the evenings)
All the courses start in September !
Other schools: Lingua only has 3 to 4 people per group but they are much more expensive. (A friend of mine is going there and it’s a really nice option for evening lessons).
