Cafe Bloem is yet another restaurant/cafe/bar on Sittard’s market square. The outdoor seating blends in with the other restaurants along that side, but you can find it behind the statue and look for the big red awnings and umbrellas.
If you’re a large group, you have the option of sitting outside on a nice day or using the back room which is much bigger and more open than the main restaurant. Walking through the doors presents a long narrow room with large, colorful, modern art displayed on one wall with the bar just opposite. That leaves little room for tables, so it is more conducive to intimate gatherings of just a couple people or a few friends sitting at the bar. Still, it’s atmospheric and could be a fun spot for a casual date or going out with a couple friends.
I didn’t eat, so I can’t attest for the food as yet, but I did get the 1.75 cappuccino that came with a nice side of whipped cream and a chocolate bar. The hot tea at 1.60 also came with whipped cream and chocolate.
Kids? No problem outside. The inside is probably a bit small.
